Hollaway studio are pleased to announce that Ashford Borough Council have approved a paragraph 80 consent for Liberty Farm.
This paragraph 80 house within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a first for the UK to feature a fully off grid energy centre, pioneering the use of Hydrogen to heat and power a home and farm.
The wider proposals commit to rewilding 25 acres of chalk downland, replenish the woodland suffering with ash dieback to enhance what is an already exceptional site. This change of management also enabled the scheme to achieve nutrient neutrality and mitigate any issues that would arise given the location within the Stodmarsh catchment area.
The new house will fold into and out of the landscape, terracing down the hillside concealing inside and outside spaces including external dining areas, a pool and generous living spaces. The walls will be constructed from rammed chalk excavated from the site, with concrete use kept to a minimum. Timber louvres and deep recesses shield the windows from excessive solar gains whist mitigating any night time light spill from the windows into the sensitive landscape.
