Part 1 Architectural Assistant
BA
Ahmed joined Hollaway Studio in 2022 after winning his first architectural competition in April 2022 and graduating from the University of Kent in July.
Ahmed was born in Somalia but grew up in Kenya before moving to England to study architecture in 2019. Having lived most of his life in East Africa, Ahmed is interested in developing a contemporary African architectural language, one that conserves historical interpretations while simultaneously addressing current and future demands. An architectural language that is cognizant of its cultural identity and is strongly linked to its environment, but also incorporates modern architectural solutions in its form, aesthetics, and construction. This passion is conveyed through his final year dissertation titled ‘How sustainable is the application of African vernacular architecture in the modern building?’
Ahmed works with Tim Goode in the London Studio and has already worked on a number of projects, including New Romney Sports Pavilion and Beckenham Place Park.
In his spare time, Ahmed enjoys weight-lifting and is known to be a notorious Manchester United fan.
